This article looks at various gun violence prevention measures and where effectiveness and and public appeal coincide.  Measures where the experts and the general public seem to agree include the need for universal background checks, preventing sales of firearms to persons convicted of violent misdemeanors and domestic abuse, and convicted stalkers.
