The Oregon House Rules Committee today voted to send SB 941 to the House Floor with a "do pass" recommendation:
SB 941 closes the private sales loophole in Oregon's existing background check requirement for firearms sales. The bill requires private sales to have a background check conducted through a licensed firearms dealer. The bill has exceptions for transfers to family members and temporary transfers such as for hunting. The bill also allows the court to prohibit a person ordered to participate in assisted outpatient treatment from purchasing or possessing a firearm during the period of treatment.
